As enrollment is underway on the DRTB-HDT study with more patients put on the study, we thought this would be the perfect time to release the first issue of our newsletter. The study is progressing well and has reached a few milestones which we are happy to share with you.
The first participant was enrolled on the 31 January 2023. This milestone was reached by the study team at the Isango Lethemba TB Research Unit in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, under the direction of Dr Francesca Conradie. The DRTB-HDT study, which will enroll 330 participants at sites in South Africa, Mozambique, Romania, Moldova, and Georgia, is supported by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission.
Three of the six participating trial sites have already been activated and 9 participants enrolled. The three sites are Aurum Tembisa, South Africa, the Isango Lethemba TB Research Unit in Port Elizabeth South Africa, and The Phthisiopneumology Institute (IFP CD), Moldova. Initiation and activation of the additional sites will take place in April.
European Commission Project Review
On the 13th of March, the consortium presented our project in a European Commission Project Review. On the review day, every work package was presented by its work package leading team in a clear and enthusiastic way. The reviewers were happy with the way we presented the consortium and work together. Their feedback is valuable for us in order to move ahead with the project.
